How does it function?
At the start of the cycle, when the upper lid opens, the automatic elevator empties the waste from the loading chamber. As the upper lid closes, shredding commences.
Controlled by the PLC, the shredder adjusts its rotation direction thanks to the “anti-blocking” feature, preventing blade jams.
Our uniquely designed shredder is proficient in grinding tough materials such as surgical stainless steel instruments and hard ceramics.
The mixing device located in the upper chamber ensures the continuous feeding of the shredder.
Heating is attained by injecting saturated steam until the temperature in both the upper and lower chambers reaches a homogeneous 134°C (274°F). Sterilization is achieved by maintaining a temperature range of 134°C (274°F) to 138°C (280°F) and equivalent pressure for 10 to 15 minutes.
These conditions enable a reduction in pathogenic contamination levels in medical waste by a factor of 8 Log 10.
During the cooling phase, any excess steam in the chamber is extracted, and the temperature of the ground sterilized waste is reduced by injecting cold air into the autoclave chamber.
The condensed water, which is sterile and can be safely discharged into the sewage system, is drained using positive pressure or vacuum assistance.
Upon opening of the unloading lid and placement of a container beneath the chamber, the waste trap opens to discharge the sterilized material. As the container is removed, the lower lid closes, and the sterilizer automatically initiates the next cycle.
